There are certain musical bands out there that have had a significant impact on their audiences.

Their fans not only enjoy their music but also relate to them to a great extent. Now, there are many genres out there, but rock bands are considered to be some of the most loved and favored music groups of all time. One of these bands happens to be Foo Fighters, which has been in the industry for decades. They have a renowned discography and an army of loyal fans, which is why many of them were shocked to hear about the demise of the band's drummer, Taylor Hawkins.

Hawkins passed away in March 2022 and it left the band and millions of fans in mourning. After the unexpected death of a fellow bandmate,  they stated that he will continue to be a part of the band in spirit. Since then, the band has hosted a number of concerts in tribute to their fallen comrade.

Foo Fighters are considered to be one of the best musicians of this generation, which is why in honor of Taylor Hawkins, here are some interesting facts about the band that you might not have heard about.

1. The song 'Let It Die' is about Courtney Love & Kurt Cobain

In the early 90s, Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love were considered to be one of the most popular couples in the entertainment industry. They were always the talk of the town, which is why it came as a huge shock when the news of Cobain's suicide made it to the mainstream media.

In an interview David Grohl, the lead singer confirmed that the song was indeed about the pair as he is no stranger to seeing people lose all that they have to drugs. He also added that Courtney Love is one of the people he is most angry with, mainly because of the situation surrounding Cobain's death.

2. They are named after UFOs

When you hear the name Foo Fighters, you can admit that it is definitely a unique name. But did you know that it was named after UFOs? Yes, believe it or not, but during World War II, pilots would call UFOs Foo Fighters. Interestingly, their record company is called Roswell, a reference to a New Mexico town where a UFO crashed in 1947.

3. They do not believe in anniversary shows

You can cut this off your bucket list since the Foo Fighters don't pay mind to anniversary shows. It is quite common for bands to release a recording of their previous hits, especially if the band has been around for a while. But Taylor Hawkins, the former drummer, warned the lead singer David Grohl against re-recordings and called it a bad idea.

While the passing of Taylor Hawkins is definitely saddening but there's some peace in knowing that the band will continue to make magic through music in the memory of Hawkins.
